6-foot, 230-pound physical frame. Brown showed power in the box with an exit velocity of 97 mph. Confident on the mound, showed quick arm speed with a high ¾ arm angle and a long arm action. Used some effort in his delivery. Showed athletic balance point. Lands square. Sat with his fastball at 85-88 mph and topped out at 89 mph; shows cutting action and command low in the zone. Threw a 1/7 curveball (71-73) with some action. Showed sinking action and command low in the zone on his changeup (74-76).
6/19/18 - Louisville recruit. Brown pitches mean, and by that I mean he is a competitor on the mound. His fastball sat 85-88 on a scorching-hot day, and he battled a deep, Wisconsin Hitters lineup. To dismiss his athleticism because of his developing, durable frame would be a big mistake. Brown repeats his mechanics very well, especially given the pause that his arm stroke has in the back before exhibiting quickness out front. He has an exaggerated hip turn at his balance point before driving off his backside down the mound. The fastball features some natural arm side life, and he counters it with advanced feel for a low-eighties changeup that has similar action, and is a pitch that he is willing to throw in any count. He also flashed a developing breaking ball at 72-73. Brown’s competitiveness also shines through at the plate where he does not get cheated from the left side with a quick stroke that features uphill strength.
10/22/17 - Max FB: 89, FB: 85-88, CB: 69, CH: 71-72 Brown turned in one of the most impressive pitching performances of the Border Battle with two shutout innings and three strikeouts. The 5-foot-11, 215-pound lefty has an extremely quick arm, and his changeup, thrown with good arm action, is advanced beyond his years as it produced consistent swings and misses. Brown committed to Louisville just a few days following the event.
