DJ Prampin: OF/RHP, (2021) the Dayton Commit out of Doherty Memorial High, MA. is a 6-foot-2, 185-pound two-way prospect. At the plate, the right-handed hitter showed some serious juice with an exit velocity of 99 MPH. Prampin sets up in a wide, open stance with the hands relaxed off the back shoulder. A short stride triggers a swing that shows gap to gap pop and takes a slightly uphill path. From the outfield, he showed plus arm strength by making throws to home plate at 91 MPH. He also shows a clean exchange, sure hands, and athletic feet. The athletic recruit showcased his speed with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.72. On the mound, Prampin has an easy, rhythmic delivery. He gets to a good position at the top before taking a consistent line with home plate. The arm works out of a high ¾ arm slot and creates late run on a fastball that sits 90-92 MPH. He also showed a heavy changeup (78-80 MPH) and a tight slider (76-78 MPH).
Prampin is a solidly built 6-foot-2, 170 pound right-handed hitting infield/outfield prospect. He hits out of a balanced, slightly open stance with the hands set just off the back shoulder. He uses a knee slide to get the weight stacked over the back leg. The bat path is slightly elevated and produced a max exit velocity of 94.7 MPH. During the batting practice he showed the ability to hit a lot of hard line drives. He also ran an impressive 6.8 second sixty.
In the outfield, Prampin showed a strong arm with a 91 MPH velocity on his throws to home plate. The feet are athletic as he worked to get into a fielding position. He transitions well through the play, into the throwing position and creates a direct line with the target. He finishes over the front leg with a quick arm.
In the infield, he was 81 MPH on his throws across the diamond. The feet are athletic and allow him to move well laterally. He gets into a fundamental fielding position, with the glove out in front. The hands are soft as he transitions through the ground ball and gets into a strong throwing position. He finishes through the play, keeping a good line with the target.
Prampin is a good looking prospect. He shows the athleticism and versatility to play multiple positions and swings the bat well.
