2/16/24

The loose-armed lefty pitches with a full arm path in back, accelerating into a high ¾ release point with good arm speed out front. It’s a repeatable, starter-type delivery with good balance and direction. He topped out at 96 several times with his lively heater in the first inning and sat 94-95 through the fourth. He then lost a few ticks during the final inning of his 86-pitch outing. Outside of the first six pitches of the ballgame, he showed above average command of his fastball, mostly working it in/out and finishing with it up in the zone for chase and empty swings. His heater is full of life in all parts of the zone, but is most noticeable up in the zone with an IVB up to 21 inches. He also repeated an above-average, low-80s slider for strikes, as well as expanding to his glove side against left-handed batters for chase. Despite the lack of a third pitch on this day, Santucci profiles as a pro starter and with continued good health he’s a likely first-round selection.

7/01/22

USA CNT TRIALS: A high-profile two-way recruit out of Massachusetts, Santucci is a live athlete who also looks the part in center field, but his pro future is likely on the mound, where he saw most of his playing time as a freshman at Duke, posting a 4.17 ERA and a 58-20 K-BB mark in 41 IP. With a chiseled 6-foot-2, 195-pound physique, Santucci is built like a future workhorse, and he has a chance to develop a starter’s three-pitch arsenal in time. He uses a deep arm swing to a high three-quarters arm action, producing 92-94 mph heat with average spin in the 2200s during his Team USA stint in training camp. He locates his fastball and his 80-82 mph slider well to his glove side against lefties, and the slider showed decent bite at times but mostly looked like a fringy offering at this stage. He also showed the ability to turn over a quality changeup at 84 mph with good sink. As Santucci gains experience and refines his secondary stuff and overall pitchability, he has a chance to become a day one draft pick in two years.

3/11/20

6-foot-2, 190-pound, strong, physical athletic frame. Well proportioned athlete, showing advanced strength. A left-handed pitcher, the delivery has tempo and timing, builds momentum down the mound. The lift is athletic smooth, stays over the backside and rubber, landing inline with a longer stride. The arm action is super clean, working with minimal effort from a natural 3/4 slot. The arm is electric, fastball explodes out of the hand at 87-88  mph and touched 90 mph. The 2-seamer has late action, needs to control it a bit more, but runs a ton. The slider is a weapon, with slurvy break to it, a legit out pitch, clocked at 75-77 mph, depth, a swing and miss offering. Showed a true turn me over changeup, will need added feel for it, clocked at 78-80 mph,  probably hasn't  had to use it often. Potential to be a draft pick.

2/09/20

New England Procase

6-foot-2, 185-pound, strong athletic frame, already filling out and looks like a pro. A left-handed hitting outfielder, top tool is ability to swing the bat and with swing with some power. At the plate, a wider setup, even feet, loose hands at the shoulders, bat starting in more of a flat position. The swing is down to level to up, lower half has backside juice, the stride is a simple pick up and put down. The approach is middle of the field, lift and loft to the swing, showing major juice, with bat speed and hard consistent contact. The tee exit velocity was clocked at 97 mph, runs above average for his size, ran a 6.94. Defensively, threw 94 mph from the outfield. The arm action is super clean, works with minimal effort, baseball jumps out of his hand. Solid chance of being a draft pick next year.

FUTURE GAMES
6-foot-1, 170-pound left-handed hitting outfielder and pitcher. Tweaked his back at the event, which set him back for the week. Ran a 7.01 sixty at the event. The approach in the outfield is aggressive and athletic, throwing 94 mph from the outfield. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 90 mph. The setup is wide in base, the bottom half stays under control throughout. The path is flat and simple to the ball. The swing is clean and on time. The hands are excellent and the frame has room to fill.

2/10/19

6-foot-1, 170-pound left-handed hitting outfielder and left-handed pitcher. On the mound, only threw fastballs, touching 83 mph with good life. The delivery is online with the feet, above ¾ in slot. The arm works free and clean, small shoulder roll as the slot gets higher. Should be an interesting prospect on the mound if he decides to invest in pitching. Positionally, threw 90 mph from the outfield to the plate. The bat has good life to it, tee exit velocity of 86 mph. The setup is wide in base, bottom half under control. The bat path is flat to the ball, and he stays on the ball with his eyes. Big prospect.

9/16/18

6-foot-1, 170-pound left-handed hitting outfielder, another good showing by him at one of our events. Ran a 4.19 down the line on his dig to first base. Threw 81 mph from the outfield as he has the ability to play all 3 outfield positions. The movements are clean and he shows long strides in the outfield. The bat is very good, flat path through the zone. Makes an honest attempt to stay in his leg and stay inside the ball at contact. The feet are wide in base and the hands work free and clean. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 83 mph. Big prospect for me.

6-foot-1, 170-pound left-handed hitting outfielder. High level prospect based off seeing him play once. Ran a 4.31 down the line on his dig to first base. The glove and ability to move in the outfield are solid. The approach is appropriate and aggressive, threw 81 mph from right field. The arm is long and free, works very well. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 83 mph, as additional physical strength will be added as he matures. The set up is wide in base, hands start low. The path is flat and quick to the ball. The ball jumps off his bat. The bottom half has a pick up and put down of the front foot as the ball approaches. Good looking left-handed stroke.
