Durable and thick right-handed hitting catcher. The receiving and blockinG are done appropriately. Throwing has improved a great deal in the last year. Continues to develop nicely as a defender. The bat has strength to it, the path is flat to the ball.
8/4/16
Liam was a last minute fill in for us and did a nice job at the event. Lashed a single in the last game of the weekend. Pop time of 2.2 as he struggled to get comfortable during the defensive portion of the workout. Threw 71 mph from behind the dish as well. The receiving is progressing nicely as the hands continue to soften and he gets his nose to the ball while securing the catch. Ran a 7.82 in his 60. The bat is clean and the hands work. Needs to get inside the ball so he can drive the ball more appropriately. Competed in his at bats during the game and had fun playing all weekend. Tee exit velocity of 85 mph.
7/26/16 5-foot-10, 185-pound right-handed hitting catcher with a pop time of 2.07 as the transfer can improve with improved footwork and by keeping his head still while he throws. Threw 73 mph from behind the dish. The receiving skills are very good, secures the catch and sets up properly. The blocking and handling of pitches is done well. The bat has life to it, tee exit velocity of 86 mph. Sets up with an even base and the bottom half is under control. The path is clean, as the hands are quick and free. The ability to stay on the ball with his front shoulder and eyes needs to improve, pulls off the ball too much, losing plate coverage. Ran a 4.6 down the line in his dig to first base.
6/28/16 Right-handed hitting catcher who I have seen catch many times in the last 6 months. The receiving has softened and he has improved through hard work. The transfer is a little long, pop time of 2.03 as the feet work. Threw 73 mph from behind the dish. Ran a 4.72 down the line on a dig. At the plate, tee exit velocity of 86 mph as the hands have good life to them. Shows the ability to stay inside the ball at contact out of a even base setup. The hands are quick and the bottom half is under control. Continuing to develop is important to his game, but he is a grinder and he loves to play.
3/12/16 Right-handed hitting catcher who did a good job at both the 3/9 event and then live at the 3/1 event. Shows the ability to be a solid receiver with the ability to block and handle good secondary stuff. The transfer is clean and his feet are good, just needs to strengthen the arm as he matures. Threw 2.2 from behind the dish and touched 71 on the gun. The swing works, as the hands are clean and fast. Tee exit velocity of 84. Stays in his legs and lets his hands do the work. Like the approach at the plate and the potential to hit for average.
