Tonelli is an athletic 6-foot-1, 193 pound right-handed hitting infield prospect. He hits out of square stance, with the hands set just off the back shoulder. The load is short and allows him to get stacked over the back leg. He strides into home plate as the bat enters the hitting zone. The hands work quick through the zone, producing a lot of hard contact and yielding a max exit velocity of 93 MPH during batting practice.

Defensively, Tonelli was 77 MPH on his throws from the infield. His feet are athletic as he moves to get into a fundamental fielding position. As he transitions through the ground ball, the hands are soft and the feet create a direct line with the target. The hips and shoulders follow the feet, allowing the arm to work quick and clean.
