Payton Manca: 1B/LHP, (2023) The Winchendon School, MA. 6-foot-5, 245-pound sturdy mature frame. Above average projectable during batting practice, the left-handed hitter displayed an exit velocity of 100 mph, Top 2 velo of the day. Starts in a balanced stance with a controlled smooth load, then uses a short stride. Bat speed is above average developing, has an uphill loose swing plane and high finish. Found lots of barrels with loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Above average projectable in the infield, displayed a velocity of 78 mph; shows consistent fluid feet, a clean exchange, and soft consistent hands. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball out front. Used a loose arm action and a high ¾ slot while showing consistent accuracy to the base. Recorded a 60 time of 7.71 at the event. Above average projectable on the mound, showed a loose quick arm action and a high ¾ arm angle with above average developing arm speed. Up-tempo tall-and-fall type pitcher who shows some effort. Showed consistent balance point with in line shoulders. Lands closed with a clean finish. Sat with his fastball at 86-87 mph; shows command arm side in the zone and running late action with heavy movement. Throws a 10/4 slider (70-73) that shows glove side in the zone command and late swing and miss action.

Hit: (LHH) Above average projectable. Began in a balanced stance with a controlled smooth load, then used a short stride. Above average developing bat speed. High finish, uphill loose swing. Gap to gap approach. 

Power: 100 mph exit velocity. 2nd best ev of the day. 

Defense:  (IF) Soft consistent hands, consistent fluid footwork, clean exchange. Above average projectable.  Laterally, movements were athletic and fielded the ball out front. 

Arm: 78 mph infield velocity. Loose arm action, high ¾ slot, consistent accuracy. 

Speed: 7.71 (60-yard).

Pitching:  Above average projectable. up-tempo tall-and-fall delivery, some effort. high ¾ arm angle, above average developing arm speed, loose quick arm action. Consistent balance point, in line shoulders, lands closed, a clean finish.

FB: T87. 86-87 mph. Arm side in the zone accuracy, running late action, heavy movement. 

SL: 70-73 mph. Glove side in the zone command, late swing and miss action, 10/4 movement.

Begins in an athletic stance with a controlled load, then uses a leg kick. Bat speed is above average, displays a loose swing plane and good extension on his finish. He found lots of barrels with loud contact. Aggressive approach. Above average in the infield, his best throw was recorded at 71 mph; has a clean exchange, soft hands, and athletic feet. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Had a high ¾ slot and a short arm action with consistent accuracy to the bag. Above average on the mound, had a high ¾ arm angle with quick arm speed. Feel type pitcher who shows easy effort. Tall balance point with in line shoulders. Lands square with an athletic finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 83-84 mph; had sinking action and command in the zone with heavy movement. Has sweeping action and control around the zone on his 11/5 curveball (69-70). Shows command around the zone and sinking action on his changeup (74-75). Has control around the zone and sweeping action on his slider (69-71). Big time prospect for me.

Defense:  (IF) Soft hands, athletic footwork, clean exchange. Above average.  Laterally, movements were athletic and fielded the ball out front. 

Arm: 71 mph infield velocity. Short arm action, high ¾ slot, consistent accuracy. 

Pitching: Above average. Feel delivery, easy effort. High ¾ arm angle, quick arm speed. Athletic balance point, in line shoulders, lands square, an athletic finish.

FB: T84. 83-84 mph. In the zone accuracy, sinking action, heavy movement. 

CB: 69-70 mph. Around the zone command, sweeping action, 11/5 shape. 

CH: 74-75 mph. Around the zone command, sinking action. 

6-foot-5, 235-pound left-handed hitting first baseman. He is a good looking prospect both in ability and size. The feet are solid around the bag and he shows reliable hands around the bag. He threw 76 mph across the diamond to third base at the workout. The bat has an exit velocity of 97 mph as he leans on the baseball. The setup is even in base with the front foot open to start. The front foot closes down and gains ground as the ball approaches the hitting zone. The hands work extremely well and he shows plus power potential with the bat. The path is flat to the ball and he hammered the ball in batting practice.
