Rory Funke: LHP/OF, (2028) Fessenden, MA. 6-foot-2, 175-pound projectable athletic build. Above average and projectable at the plate, the left-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 83 mph. Began in a balanced athletic stance with a controlled load, then used a small stride. Bat speed is developing, displays an uphill loose swing plane and good extension on his finish. He created loud contact and found multiple barrels. Gap to gap aggressive approach. Athletic from the outfield, he displayed a position velocity of 85 mph; had developing soft hands, a natural exchange, and developing athletic footwork. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Consistent accuracy to the bases, used a ¾ slot with a very quick loose arm action. Above average projectable on the mound, used a ¾ arm angle and a loose consistent arm action while showing developing quick arm speed. Feel type pitcher and shows some effort. Displays in line shoulders with a consistent balance point. Lands closed with a falling off finish. Sat with his fastball at 80-81 mph; showed control arm side around the zone and running sinking action. (Max spin 2131; Avg 2053). Had arm side control and gradual fading action on his changeup (71-74).
Funke is a talented, young left-handed hitting outfield prospect. He begins with a square stance with the hands relaxed just off the back shoulder. The bat then takes a slightly uphill path through the hitting zone and finishes through contact. In the outfield, Funke showed some athleticism as he went through the defensive portion. The feet moved well to get him into position, his exchange was clean and the arm was quick. He also had a vertical of 55.1 cm.
