6-foot-1, 220 pounds, thick build with wide, sloped shoulders, average proportions, present strength in his game. Obvious gains physically since his last PBR event. Ran a 8.14 sixty yard dash. A left-handed hitter, he employs a flat setup and even feet in the box. Slight rock step triggers the swing. Fluid, quiet hands that work from the shoulders finishing strong with two hands. Produce hard contact during batting practice and during game action, where he scorched a line drive right at short. Showed a middle pull oriented approach. His tee exit velocity was measured at 82 MPH. A catcher, he sets up with the feet right around shoulder width apart with an average first step. Out of the chute, McGivern was clocked at 72 MPH down to second base. His pop time band sat between 2.07-2.23. Cleaning up the mechanics to keep throws on the bag should help this range improve, especially since the arm strength should see natural strides in his development.

6-foot, 215-pound, strong, physical, durable frame. The shoulders are sloped, back is wide, has room for added strength. A left-handed hitter, who has an advanced approach at the plate. The stance is even, slightly wider than shoulder width. The hands start at shoulder height, the bat is flat, starts in a good hitting position. The lower half is under control, has a small leg kick, gains ground with his stride foot, direction is inline, hands get loaded up and back. The swing is very short to the baseball, hands have strength and are quick. The swing path is down to level to up, approach is more middle to opposite field. The batting practice rounds were impressive, hit the baseball hard to all fields. The barrel stays in the zone a long time, finish is high with one hand, has a classic left-handed swing. Defensively, is very simple and doesn't try and do too much behind the plate. The setup is balanced, hands are soft, has strength to them when receiving, footwork is inline during transfer. The arm action is short and clean, arm works out of a higher slot, pop times of 2.06-2.19, arm strength was clocked at 70 mph. During transfer, the glove hand gets to throwing hand smoothly. Big time follow for me, love the ability to swing the bat, get out and see him.
