5-foot-9, 180-pound right-handed hitting catcher. Threw 72 mph down to second base during the workout. Pop time of 2.03 as he moves well to get rid of it. Accuracy is good and he shows the ability to block and recover. The receiving is developing nicely as he continues to improve his ability to secure the catch. Ran a 4.69 down the line on his dig to first base. Tee exit velocity of 81 mph. The path is long and flat to the ball as he starts his swing out of a wide and slightly open front foot. The initiation of the bat is out and around to the ball at times. Shortening the beginning of the swing is key to his swing length. Tee Exit Velocity- 81 mph Catching Velocity- 72 mph Pop Time-2.03
9/25/16 Did a really nice job at the event as he threw the ball much better at the event than I have seen him do in the past. Pop time of 1.98 but the feet were cleaner and the arm path was simple, throwing the ball on the bag. Threw 73 mph from behind the dish. The receiving is improving as he needs to continue to work on securing the catch with strength. At the plate, tee exit velocity of 81 mph, as it has been better in the past. The set up is even handed with a long and casted path. The finish is good, and the head posture is improving. I think his best days are in front of him, ran a 4.8 down the line on his dig.
8/4/16 5-foot-10, 180-pound right-handed hitting catcher from Western Mass. First time in this type of atmosphere, next time he will relax and show better. Pop time of 2.11 and he threw 71 mph down to second during the event. The feet during the transfer needs to improve, I have seen him throw better, but the feet need to improve. Showed solid receiving skills, still needs to work on securing the catch and getting his nose to the ball. Goes to a knee a bit too much with guys on base, keep an eye on that. Offensively, very aggressive with the bat. Hit the ball on the screws 3 times at the event, with nothing to show for it. Tee exit velocity of 85 mph. The swing plane needs to be shortened a bit and he needs to work on the foot speed, ran a 7.8 in the 60.
6/28/16 Right-handed hitting catcher who had one of the better pop times on the day, 1.99. The arm strength is good and the ability to get rid of the ball quickly is in place. Threw 75 mph down to second base on his throws. The receiving is solid, still needs to continue to work on his game and soften the hands. The bat has strength to it, tee exit velocity of 88 mph. The hitting stance is even footed and the hands are even as well. The bat path is flat to the ball and he is strong at contact. The head does move and tilt during the swing, hopefully that doesn't effect his ability to see the ball coming into the hitting zone. Ran a 4.51 down the line on a dig.
11/15/15 Physical right-handed hitting catcher, pop time of 2.03 and arm velocity of 70 mph. The feet and transfer are clean and will improve with reps. The receiving needs to be softened and cleaned up. Looks to be on the right path based off the workout. The bat is strong and long. Tee exit velocity of 85 mph. The set up is even on the bottom and he is under control of his bottom half. He does have some collapse in his body and backside during the swing. He really shows you strength as he isn't behind the ball at contact right now and he is still hammering the ball. Look out, if he cleans up the posture in the swing. Looks to be a very good prospect.
