Will Sawyer: OF/3B, (2022) out of Williston Northampton, MA. is a physical 6-foot-4, 200-pound prospect. During batting practice, Sawyer displayed an exit velocity of 98 MPH. He sets up in a balanced, athletic stance with the hands just off the back shoulder. During his round, the bat speed was evident with his uphill path through the hitting zone. He stays balanced throughout and makes a lot of loud contact. In the infield, Sawyer showed his live arm with a velocity of 85 MPH with his throws across the diamond. As he worked through the ground balls, he showed a clean exchange, athletic feet, and sure hands. From the outfield, he showed off his strong arm again with a top velocity of 92 MPH. He showed a clean exchange, sure hands, and athletic feet.

8/12/20

6-foot-3, 190-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. He ran a 6.97 sixty at the event. The athleticism is excellent and he moves well in the outfield. He threw 87 mph to the plate during the defensive portion of the workout. He may be able to play all 3 spots in the outfield. The bat has an exit velocity of 90 mph. The setup is wide and he uses a knee to knee slide that turns into a big stride. The hands are quick and free to the ball. The bat has good life, would like to see him get the bottom half more under control as he will have to tone that down against pitchers with good secondary pitches. I like him as a prospect.

Sawyer is a talented, physical 6-foot-3, 195 pound prospect. The right-handed hitting outfielder had an impressive exit velocity of 90 mph off the tee. He hits out of a wide, slightly open stance, with the hands in a relaxed position off the back shoulder. He transitions the weight to the back leg with a lifting of the front leg. The hands push back into the launch position before heading into the hitting zone. As the bat-head whips through the zone, his strength and quick hands are evident. He showed the ability to drive balls gap to gap and remain balanced throughout.

Defensively, he showed a strong arm in the outfield, recording a velocity of 86 mph. The movements in the outfield are athletic. He breaks down behind the ball, into a good fielding position and creates a direct line with the target. He finishes through the play and continues along the direct line.

Sawyer was really impressive at this event. His athleticism and raw strength were on full display. This is a guy to look out for in the class of 2022.

OF Velocity- 86 mph
3/24/19

Threw 79 mph from the outfield. The feet are really athletic and get into a good position to field. The glove is soft and transitions well into a strong throwing position.  The arm swing is from a short fluid slot and extends well through the target.  In the infield, the athleticism was evident again.  The feet were light and moved well around the bag.  The glove was soft and showed the ability to handle tough hops.  The arm again was fluid and showed at 77 mph across the infield. This is an athletic young player who showed above average ability at both positions. At the plate, the tee exit velocity was 90 mph.  The initial set up is out of a wide, athletic base. The hands rest on the back shoulder and get going with a simple pick up off the shoulder.  The stride is a knee to knee and creates some violent momentum to the contact point.  The extension has some elevation and stays through the ball well through contact.  The is a very talented young player.  He has the ability to play athletically all over the field and is a big time prospect at the plate.
