The stride is short and allowed him to stack the weight over the back leg, with the hands in a good launch position. The swing path is flat and produced a max exit velocity of 70.7 MPH on balls sprayed center to left during the batting practice. He also ran a 7.62 second sixty.
Defensively, Hanfield was 69 MPH on his throws across the diamond. The feet moved well as he worked to get into a fundamental fielding position. The hands were soft as he transitioned through the ground ball and into the throwing position. He created a direct line with the target and used a short arm swing to finish through the play.
