6.4.16 - C Andrew Decker showed nice athleticism behind the plate with quick feet and exchange. In between inning pop times as low as 2.18. Nice hip control behind the plate and gets down to block. Showed a lot of improvement defensively. Has a short swing that is quick through the zone. Was a bit unlucky squaring up a few balls right at the defense for hard outs
2.21.16 - Athletic frame at 5-foot-10, 180-pounds. Ran a 7.83 60-yard dash. Hits from an athletic set up. Smooth load to hitting position. Level swing path and stays inside of baseball. Shows some extension through contact. Gets some lower half involvement. Gets on front foot at time out of balance through swing but shows overall balance in swing. Exit velo of 78 mph. Slightly open set up receiving. Good sway and hip control moving on the ball. Soft hands receiving and sticks ball well. Clean exchange and sound footwork to throwing position. Short arm action throwing from a high ¾ arm angle. Throws had some carry at 71 mph. Pop time as low as 2.1.
6.30.15 - Hits from slightly close set up with smooth load and short stride. Level bat path and average bat speed. As gets stronger barrel control will increase along with power. Sound footwork behind the plate. Catcerh velocity at 68 mph. Pop-time ranged from 2.28 – 2.3. As arm strength increases pop time should lower. Clean exchange and release. Interesting to see how player develops and strengthens. 4.68 home to first time and 81 mph exit velocity.
2.21.15 -Andrew Decker is a 5-foot-8 180-pound C/RHP. Behind the plate, Decker showed a good base and was slightly stiff in his crouch. He showed mobility on balls in the dirt. Has soft receiving ability potential and should develop that more consistently as he matures. He had a quick and clean exchange with a short arm action and a catcher velocity of 71 mph with slight carry. Offensively, Decker had a balanced stance and with a smooth load. Is slightly long in swing with average bat speed and potentially some pull side pop. His exit velocity was 81 mph and he ran a 7.65 60 yard dash. On the mound, Decker threw from over-the-top and worked downhill at 75 mph. His breaking ball was 11/5 with gradual movement. He showed better rhythm from the stretch. Decker shows a good foundation as a 2018 and is an interesting player to keep an eye on.
