MD Fall Invitational 11.3.18

Athletic body type and 6-foot-1, 195 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, athletic, square stance and wider base. Small back load and short stride. Short, compact, slightly uphill swing path with an exit velo of 83 mph. Swings with intent and showed strong lower half involvement and quick bat speed. Stays behind the ball well. Gap line drive type hitter with some power to the pull-side. Quiet body behind the plate receiving. Very quick footwork and quick, clean exchanges on throws to second base. Throws with short arm action from a mid three-quarters slot at 68 mph. Consistently accurate throws with pop times ranging 1.95-2.14.

9.15.18 - Defensively, behind the plate shows excellent flexibility in presenting a low, wide target. Glove hand is quiet and and confident in receiving and framing. Blocking technique is solid with above average range flashed. Feet are quick while arm stroke and transfer have length in recording pop time of 2.12 on throw of 71 mph.

Defensively, at third base hands are adequate while funneling bottom up and out front. DeWees would benefit from more aggressively working through the ball and following his throws.

Offensively, 6-foot-1 205 pound right-handed hitter, initiates swng from closed set up with controlled stride staying closed. Separation is reduced by early hand leak. Weight shift and hip turn are aggressive. Bat path is flat and short. Barrel feel was evident in squaring of multiple balls during round of BP. An 82 mph bat exit velocity was recorded.
