As November comes to a close we take one final look at the roster from our final event of the year: the Maryland Fall Invitational at Mount St. Mary's University. Today we begin with a full analysis of the eleven catchers from the event. 

 

MARYLAND FALL INVITATIONAL CATCHERS (LISTED ALPHABETICALLY)

Armani Bullock C Urbana 2020
Solid body type and 5-foot-11, 220 pound frame. Hits from a relaxed, tall, open stance with feet close together and hands close to body. Holds bat close to straight up and down in stance. Average stride length creating some separation. Short, slightly uphill swing path and fast bat speed with an exit velo of 87 mph. Swings the bat with intent showing some lower half involvement and a very strong upper body. Gap-to-gap power type hitter with easy pop. Quiet body and receives well behind the plate. Quick, clean exchanges and quick replacement footwork on throws to second base. Longer arm action throwing from a high three-quarters slot at 70 mph. Showed consistently accurate throws and posted pop times ranging 2.10-2.19.

Brett DeWees C/OF Manchester Valley 2020
Athletic body type and 6-foot-1, 195 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, athletic, square stance and wider base. Small back load and short stride. Short, compact, slightly uphill swing path with an exit velo of 83 mph. Swings with intent and showed strong lower half involvement and quick bat speed. Stays behind the ball well. Gap line drive type hitter with some power to the pull-side. Quiet body behind the plate receiving. Very quick footwork and quick, clean exchanges on throws to second base. Throws with short arm action from a mid three-quarters slot at 68 mph. Consistently accurate throws with pop times ranging 1.95-2.14.
