Preseason All-State Session II

Positional Profile: LHP/1B
Body: 6’1”, 160 pounds. Athletic, lanky, projectable frame. 
Hit: LHH. Hits from a balanced, open stance from the left side of the plate. Smooth back load and average stride length. Short to the ball with quick hands and creates some bat speed through the zone. Slightly uphill swing path and stays behind the ball well with good extension through and past contact. Generates some lower half involvement and finishes the swing primarily with one hand. Really nice middle of the field line drive approach during BP. 
Power: 79 mph exit velocity from the tee. Gap-to-gap pop with more developing. 
Arm: LH. INF - 72 mph. Throws with short arm action from a mid three-quarter slot. 
Defense: Works through the ball at first base fielding it out in front with active feet and showed quick, clean exchanges. 
Run: 4.34 home-to-first time.

Delivery: Starts with a quick rocker side step, into a chest high leg kick. Delivery was fluid and overall athleticism was present during all portions. Tends to open up slightly early but gets ok torque out of his lower half. Glove separation was on time and in line with his delivery. Ended in a good, athletic fielding position.
Arm Action: LH. Throws downhill out of a mid three-quarter arm slot.
FB: T73 mph, 72-73 mph. Struggled with consistency on this day. 
CB: 52-57 mph. Loopy, 12/6 plane to the plate.
CH: 55-62 mph. Thrown consistently near the strike zone with fade at home plate.

MD Junior Future Games Trials

Athletic body type and projectable 6’1’’, 150 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, square stance at the plate from the left side with hands pre-set in hitting position. Used a toe-tap to load. Attacks the ball with a short, direct, level swing and showed some bat speed. Generates some lower half involvement with nice balance throughout the swing. Gets some extension through contact and finishes swing with one-hand. Recorded a 75 mph exit velocity and ran a 4.53 home-to-first time. Works through the ball in the infield at first base and throws with short arm action from a mid three-quarters slot at 68 mph. Controlled side-step wind-up and high leg kick into a tall, compact, quick balance point. Smooth down to out lower half drive and delivery with clean hand separation. Lands open to the plate with a strong athletic finish. Gets over front side well and pitches downhill. Throws with shorter arm action from a mid three-quarters slot and easy effort. Fastball sat 66-67 mph and touched 69 mph. Breaking ball showed gradual 1/7 shape at 52-55 mph and change-up was 58-59 mph.

MD Freshman Free Showcase

Athletic body type and projectable 6’1’’, 145 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, square stance at the plate. Short back load and small stride. Short, compact, level swing with some bat/hand speed. Generates some lower half involvement and stays behind the ball well with good balance throughout swing. Line drive type hitter with an exit velocity up to 77 mph. Athletic and moves well around the bag at first base. Plays with sound footwork and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. Throws with short arm action from a mid three-quarters slot at 63 mph. Controlled side-step wind-up and leg kick into a tall, compact, quick balance point. Smooth down to out lower half drive and delivery. Lands open to the plate with a strong athletic finish. Gets over front side and pitches downhill. Throws with shorter arm action from a mid three-quarters slot with easy effort. Pitched down and pounded the zone with all three pitches. Fastball sat 67-70 mph and touched 71 mph. Change-up was 54-59 mph and breaking ball showed gradual 1/7 shape at 54-55 mph.
