10/15/22

vs MissouriDefensive sensation Cheng runs plus and defends plus. His above average arm strength also plays plus due to his instincts and internal clock. Offensively, there isn’t much power, but he can put the bat on the ball with a line drive, up-the-middle stroke. The right handed batter reached base in each of his last four plate appearances with three singles and a walk. The athletic Cheng has top round defensive skills, but his bat will determine where he ultimately lands.

3/26/19

Cheng was the table-setter and leader on offense for the Warriors in their 9-5 win over Walt Whitman going 3-for-4 with a double, 2 RBI's, and 2 runs scored. Hits from a relaxed, athletic, square stance with bat head resting on back shoulder. Quick toe-tap load and average stride length. Gets the hands into a good hitting position with nice separation. Stays behind the ball really well and showed some pull-side pop. Athletic body type with plenty of room to fill out. More power projected as he matures and gets stronger. Rangy and plays loose at shortstop with active feet.

9/29/18

Athletic body type and moves well in the infield. Showed versatility playing third base, shortstop, and second base. Smooth fielding actions and plays through the ball with active feet. Hits from a balanced and slightly open stance at the plate. Smooth back load with a medium sized leg kick. Gets some lower half involved and showed a short, slightly uphill swing path. Gap-to-gap line drive type hitter.

6/04/17

Luke Cheng for Dig In showed quick twitch and range from the third base position, able to make clean cuts and angles with a clean exchange and some arm strength across the diamond. He showed average bat speed at the plate with gap-togap type ability
