Maryland Preseason All-State Session I
Body: 6’3’’, 185 pounds. Strong, athletic body type.
Hit: RHH. Hits from a balanced, upright, square stance at the plate. Smooth back load with a bigger leg kick stride with solid hand separation. Quick bat speed through the zone and gets uphill through contact with really nice extension. Stays behind the ball well with excellent balance throughout the swing, utilizing the lower half well. Strong middle of the field line drive approach.
Power: 92 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Strength and power is present to the gaps and alleys with more projected.
Arm: RH. OF - 85 mph. Throws with shorter arm action from a high three-quarter slot.
Defense: Attacks the ball and plays through it with quick, active feet. Fields the ball out in front to the outside of the foot and creates solid momentum towards the target. Smooth, fluid actions in the transfers.
Run: 7.16 60-yard time.
Delivery: Worked from the stretch only; slow, energy building leg lift to the belt loop and then exploded down the mound. Good direction towards the target with the ability to lull hitters to sleep and then jump on them with pace.
Arm Action: RH. Athletic, high intent, high ¾ slot from a standard 5 and a half foot release height.
FB: T84 mph, 79-83 mph. Average spin rate of 1839 rpm. Significant arm side run on occasion (18 inches of horizontal movement) with late life into RHH hands. Can live off the arm side of the plate with confidence.
CB: 69-70 mph. Average spin rate of 2173 rpm. Hard, rolling shape with strikeout projection as he continues refinement. 7 inches of horizontal movement on average with depth too.
Maryland Summer Trials
Body: 6’3”, 170 pounds. Long, athletic, projectable frame.
Hit: RHH. Hits from a relaxed square stance at the plate. Smooth, short back load and stride. Creates some hand separation and stays short to the ball with quick hands and fast, whippy bat speed. Stays behind the ball with really good balance throughout the swing. Two-handed finish with some lower half involvement. Great feel for the barrel, consistently squaring up balls during BP. Strong middle of the field line-drive approach.
Power: 90 mph exit velocity from the tee. Showed strength in the swing with power to the alleys and more projected.
Arm: RH. OF - 84 mph. Quick arm action throwing from a mid three-quarter slot with intent.
Defense: Fields the ball on the glove hand side of the body and works through it with quick feet and a quick exchange.
Run: 4.30 home-to-first time.
Delivery: Controlled side-step wind-up and leg kick to a tall balance position. Kick-out stride down the mound with clean hand separation and uphill shoulder tilt. Lands in-line to the plate and gets over the front side with good extension. Creates some quick arm speed through release.
Arm Action: RH. Throws with long arm action from a mid to high three-quarter slot with easy effort.
FB: T81 mph, 77-80 mph. Slight arm-side run at times with an average spin rate of 1715 rpm.
CB: 64-65 mph. 11/5 shape with an average spin rate of 2043 rpm.
SL: 64-66 mph. Tight, short 12/6 break with an average spin rate of 2063 rpm.
