2021 SS J.T. Sokolove has been a spark plug for the Team Michigan offense. He led off Friday with a walk that led to the first run of the game and then followed that with a single up the middle during a three-run inning. In his third at-bat, he scored again after another walk. He also flashed the leather in the field on an unassisted double play.
Hitting: Top of the order type hitter with a tall stance. Shows fast hands. Mixes up his finish with two hands and one hand. Line drive hitter that takes the ball where it's pitched.
Swing: At the plate sets up with a tall narrow stance top of the order hitter that shows good bat control. Drove a few balls to the LF area on a line. Sneaky power. 87 mph exit velocity.
Fielding: Elite defender with very soft hands. Makes every play look easy, while displaying good lateral quickness. Will play SS at the next level. 86 mph across the infield.
5-foot-6, 125 pound infield prospect. Hits out of an open stance at the plate using a long stride to load, keeping his hands at head height. Swings on a downhill plane making solid contact back up the middle. Posted a 76 MPH exit velocity. On the infield fields the ball up towards his belt with two hands. Showed good footwork while fielding on the move. Position velocity was 74 MPH thrown with a short arm out of a high 3/4 arm slot.
