8/2/16 - Paten is a 6-foot-1 200-pound right-handed hitting outfielder and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class.  He ran a 6.78 60, fastest 60 time of the event, and a 4.59 home-to-first.  He has a 91 mph exit velo, one of the top velos on the day.  At the plate, wide stance, smooth weight shift into back side, minimal stride, middle of the field line drives in batting practice, tripled to right-center in game action.  In the outfield, high three quarters release, crow hop, moves to the ball with a purpose, mostly accurate throws, 78 mph positional velo. On the mound, Paten was 78-79 mph with fastball, occasional cutting action, high three quarters arm slot, slightly across body, curveball at 69-73 mph, tight spin, 11-to-5 action, created some swing and miss, throws with regular effort, strong build.

2/15/16 - Paten is a 6-foot-1 200-pound right-handed hitting outfielder and pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class.  He ran a 4.16 home to first and has an exit velo of 91 mph, one of the top RHH exit velos for the event. At the plate, starts in open stance, in-line stride, gap-to-gap approach, some pop to pull side. In the outfield, 80 mph positional velo. On the mound, high three quarters release, hands work over the head during wind up, controlled tempo, slight coil at balance point, fastball at 79-81 mph, some with running action, slurve-type breaking ball at 64-66 mph, 10-to-4 action, change up at 73-76 mph, some with arm side release.
