2/16/15 - Theiss is an athletic 6-foot-6 205-pound outfielder. Offensively, balanced set-up, smooth load, no wasted actions, small stride, short to contact, level path, fast bat speed, 88 mph exit velo, 4.19 home-to-first. Defensively, plays thru ball, crow hop, over-the-top release, loose/easy arm action, momentum towards target, clean exchange, quick footwork, athletic actions, event high 90 mph velo from outfield. Theiss is a very athletic on the mound and in the outfield. Works from a high-three-quarters arm slot with quick arm speed. Throws with regular effort and has a drop and drive type delivery, shows command of three pitches, fastball 83-86, touching 86 several times, curveball works the bottom of zone, 67-70 mph, 11-to-5 shape, late action, change-up at 77-9 mph, occasional sink, near fastball arm speed. Thiess is on an upward trend and emerging as a top player in the state.
10/5/14 - Theiss has a physical presence on the mound, working 3.2 innings allowing three runs on three hits with seven strikeouts. He was clocked at 78-81 mph with his fastball and 73-74 mph with his sharp, late-breaking curveball. He has free, easy arm action.
6/4/14 - Theiss is a big, strong 6-foot-6, 205-pound right hand hitting outfielder. He throws with long arm action and has good carry on his throws. He was also very accurate from the outfield. Craig displayed athleticism moving his feet. His position velo was clocked at 86 MPH. At the plate, Theiss starts with an athletic setup and has a smooth load. He takes a short stride and a short bath path, that produces good gap-to-gap power. He has definite power to all fields. Craig's exit velo was 87 MPH.
6/4/14 - Theiss is a very projectable 6-foot-6, 205-pound RHP. He has an over-the-top delivery and has good down angle on his pitches. He also showed good run on his fastball. His fastball ranged from 78-81 MPH. Craig has a sharp breaking curveball that was thrown a 67-70 MPH. His change-up was thrown at near fastball arm speed and ranged from 7-72 MPH.
1/20/14 - Theiss is a solid and highly projectable 6-foot-6 205-pound right handed hitting outfielder. He has a quick, clean exchange that puts the ball on the bag consistently. His plays through the ball and produces a position velo of 73 MPH. Theiss has a 7.41 60 time. With the bat, he starts from an athletic, balanced stance and produces a level, quick bath path. His swing has the ability to produce gap-to-gap power. His exit velo is 71 mph.
1/20/14 – At 6-foot-6 205-pounds Theiss is highly projectable and definitely a player to follow in the 2017 class. As he continues to develop he should have a good increase in velo with the ability to be a two-way player. On the mound, Theiss showed good command of three pitches in the zone. His fastball topped out at 81 MPH late run. He showed good command of his curveball, which had a 12/6 sharp, late break at 67-70 MPH. He throws his change-up with sink near fastball arm speed at 70-72 MPH. He has a balanced leg lift and good rhythm getting down the mound. He throws from a ¾ arm slot with easy effort.
