2/16/15 - Gillen is a physical 6-foot-2, 200-pound class of 2016 outfielder that attends the Barstow School in Kansas City, MO. Right-hand hitter, athletic set-up, rolls weight back pre-stride to create rhythm, smooth load, lower half works, bat speed, compact swing with some lift, extension through the baseball. Middle to slight pull line drives during batting practice round. Exit velocity 91 mph, ran a 4.46 home-to-first. Attacks the ball in the outfield, high three-quarters arm slot, plays through, 83 mph throwing velocity.

10/5/14 - Gillen worked a quick 1-2-3 inning in his outing, throwing mainly fastballs at 78-80 mph, and upward trend.  At the plate, Gillen picked up a pair of RBI and went 1-for-3 with a single in the hole at short.  He was timed at 4.72-seconds on the turn.

6/17/14 - Gillen is a physical 6-foot-1 190-pound OF.  Gillen has aggressive actions to the ball and throws with an over-the-top release.  He posted a positional velo of 80 MPH and made somewhat accurate throws to his target.  Offensively, Gillen has a smooth load and level bat path to extension.  He has a gap-to-gap approach with projectable power.  He had an exit velo of 85 MPH, and runs a 4.60 home-to-first.  

6/17/14 - Gillen is a physical 6-foot-1, 190-pound RHP.  He showed a fastball with slight run at 73-78 MPH and an 11-to-5 curveball at 64-65 MPH.  Gillen threw his change-up at near fastball arm speed at 67-68 MPH.  He has an over-the-top release point, and has a loose arm action that creates good arm speed.   Gillen throws with regular effort and finishes in an athletic position.  

2/17/14 – Gillen is a strong 6-foot-1 185-pound right handed pitcher.  He showed a fastball that sat at 77-79 MPH with an over-the-top arm action. His fastball showed slight run and was consistently down.  He has a 12/6 curveball that is thrown at near fastball arm speed at 65-68 MPH.  His change-up is a 70-72 MPH.  Gillen starts with good balance and an over-the-top arm action.  He has smooth rhythm throughout his deliverty and finishes in a balanced position.
