6/14/16 - Carlson is a 5-foot-9 145-pound left handed hitting first baseman and left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.07 60 and a 4.25 home-to-first.  He has a 78 mph exit velo. At the plate, balanced stance with smooth and controlled load into back side, level bat path, swing produced line drives to pull and middle side of the field.  At first base, 69 mph positional velo, high three quarters arm slot, accurate throws, fluid footwork with exchange. On the mound, Carlson worked his fastball at 67-73 mph, slight late run, controlled delivery, over the top release, throws with regular effort, repeats, 2-to-8 shaped breaking ball, 58-59 mph, change up at 60-62 mph, slight sink, attacked hitters in game action, forced a number of off balance swings.
10/31/15 - Carlson is a 5-foot-8 140-pound left-handed hitting first baseman and left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class.  At the plate, starts in a balanced stance, loads in lower half, minimal hand load, level swing path, mostly pull side during batting practice, smooth rhythm, 73 mph exit velo. Ran a 7.22 60 and got down the line in 4.16-seconds.  On the infield, 67 mph positional velo, high three-quarters release, quick footwork, fields with glove in front, soft hands. On the mound, Carlson is a strike thrower with late run to his fastball at 64-68 mph.  He throws with regular effort and a high three-quarters release.  Curveball with 1-to-7 shape, gradual break and bottom of zone at 55-56 mph, change up 55-58 mph.  Delivery is smooth and controlled allowing arm to repeat release point.
