8/9/15 - Gastner is a 6-foot-3 195-pound right-handed hitting third baseman and right-handed pitcher.  Gastner runs a 7.37 60 and has an 84 mph exit velo.  Smooth load from an athletic stance at the plate, toe taps, level path, mostly pull to middle during batting practice, power to pull side. During defensive evaluations, high three-quarters arm slot, 79 mph positional velo, clean exchange, hands and feet in sync, somewhat accurate throws. On the mound, Gastner struck out two hitters in his inning of work throwing mostly fastball and curveball.  Fastball at 77-80 mph, high three-quarters, throws with regular effort, stays inline, fields position well, athletic off the mound, 12-to-6 breaking ball, 70-73 mph, late action.

2/21/15 - Gastner is a Lean/projectable 6-foot-3 190-pound 3B/1B.  At the plate, simple/repeatable swing mechanics, short stride, fluid rhythm, hit the ball flat to middle-pull side during BP, 81 mph exit velo, runs a 4.63 home-to-first.  Defensively, quick footwork, fluid exchange, over-the-top release, mostly accurate throws, 79 mph positional velo. On the mound, Gastner is aggressive down the mound, throws with some effort, tall and fall type delivery, 78-81 mph fastball, occasional run, 11-to-5 shape curveball, 69-71 mph, sinking change-up at 74-75 mph, down in zone, near fastball arm speed.
