This lanky 6-foot, 170-pound athlete has the tools to become a significant impact player with continued development. At the plate, he has a smooth trigger with quick hands and gets through the zone well. Hampton moves fluidly in the outfield and has a loose arm (73-77 mph). On the mound, Hampton shows a strong lower half and throws three pitches for strikes, and all with excellent movement. His 73-76 mph fastball showed late run, while Hampton's 68 mph cutter had sharp 9-to-6 bite. His 68-71 mph changeup also had late sinking action.

2/12/12: Hampton is a projectable 6-foot-2, 180-pound player who impressed with his ability in the outfield and infield.  In the outfield Hampton was quick to the ball and showed the ability to play through the baseball and get on top of his throws.  Hampton took good routes and exhibited clean footwork; he was clocked at 79 mph with accuracy.  In the infield, he showed athletic footwork and soft hands, with 76-79 mph throws across the diamond. At the plate, Hampton has a balanced setup and a level, line-drive swing.  He showed some barrel whip through the zone as he laced line drives. As he continues to mature physically, Hampton has the tools to be an impact player at the next level.
