Murphy has a slender build with loose arm action, over the top release, slightly uphill with shoulders at balance, stays inline, throws strikes with fastball and curveball, works both sides of plate, downhill tilt on fastball. 81-83 mph fastball, slight run, curveball 12-to-6 curveball gradual break. Struck out three hitters during outing. Murphy has room to fill out and add to his clean arm action.

7/14/15 - Murphy is a 6-foot-2 160-pound right-handed pitcher in the 2016 class from Kearney HS. Murphy has a slender frame with a loose arm action, topped at 84 mph, one of the best for the event. During his bullpen, he threw a high-percentage of strikes with a fastball ranging from 81-84 mph, some with slight run, he had a 12-to-6 curveball, gradual break, and a 66-69 mph change-up with arm side sink. He throws with easy effort and had body control throughout the delivery.
