6-feet, 189 pounds, lean, well proportioned frame. Finkelstein ran a 4.63 home-to-first. Showed some impressive opposite field pop during batting practice. His feet are about shoulder width apart at the plate from an even stance. He has a leg kick in the swing which is the trigger for his hands to drop from his shoulders to the letters, getting in position to hit. His hands are loose helping to generate bat speed. Finkelstein posted a 93 mph exit velocity off a tee. Defensively, the arm strength is there, evidenced by an 81 mph throw to third base. He plays an athletic first base with a whippy, quick arm. The ball jumps out of his hand. The glove is slightly above average and Finkelstein showed comfort making different types of plays around the bag. As a pitcher, he employs a simple delivery thrown from a higher slot. His fastball has some movement when working up and down in the zone, helping him induce weak contact. It was clocked between 79-83 mph. His curveball flashes the potential to be a true swing-and-miss pitch, with sharp break and a 12/6 shape. He used the changeup sparingly during his in game action, though the 78 mph pitch has some promise coming out of the same slot with the same arm speed. Overall, Finkelstein is worth following as either a pitcher or a position player, and is one of the better unsigned 2018s in the area.
