4/2/19: Tall, slender lefty at 6-foot-5 and 205 pounds. Long arm path, late hand/glove separation and big rush with his lower half. Shows the ball early behind his back to the hitter. Contorted, cross-body landing with an upright finish. Flew open and his arm dragged which created an elevated and flat fastball. The Illini bats turned it into four runs on four hits in the first inning. Veneziano later adjusted to throw more quality strikes down in the zone after the first inning and concluded his seven-inning start with six scoreless innings. From a wandering slot which varied from high three-quarter to three-quarter, he flashed a fastball up to 93 mph with an above average 2400 rpm spin rate. After the first inning he settled into the 87-91 range for the remainder of his start. Mixed in a fringe, sweepy slurve at 80-84 mph and showed fair feel for a 80-81 mph sinking changeup. Veneziano profiles as a reliever at the next level where his fastball could play up and his lack of command (career 4.90 BB/9) will be more forgiving. He could receive late round consideration on Day Two or more than likely early consideration on Day Three this June. (Seifert)
