Powered Delbarton’s offense in the game, going 4-for-4 with four runs and three runs scored. He hit a two-run home run in the first, smoked a single back up the middle in his next at-bat and then reached on two infield singles, getting down the line in about 4.2 seconds.
Area Code Games (August 10th, 2018) SS Anthony Volpe (Delbarton HS, NJ) also made hard contact in each of his at-bats in the first game, going 2-for-3. He was 0-for-4 in the second with a hard lineout and flyout.
Under Armour All-America Game (July 22, 2018) SS Anthony Volpe (Delbarton HS, NJ), a 5-foot-11, 180-pound Vanderbilt recruit, has built a reputation as a top-level defender and consistent game performer. On Friday, he effortlessly fielded a hard-hit ball ranging up the middle on a short hop to turn an unassisted double play. And although he didn’t have anything to show for it, he barreled up 93 and 92 fastballs, respectively, lining out to the second baseman and flying out to centerfield.
10/1/16 Volpe is a talented, athletic 5-foot-10 160-pound middle infielder with a lot to like. Volpe is currently No. 2 in NJ's 2019 class - and one of the top players in the country (No. 29 as of 10/1). Extremely smooth in the field - exchanges are clean and quick with throws that have carry from multiple arm slots. Offensively- starts in a tall stance, slightly opened with hands above shoulder. Very quiet in pre-pitch routine, uses a small stride to start load. Hands load down and back, hips are loose and violent. Swing is short with flat barrel path. Will occasionally rise up in finish. High follow prospect.
Volpe stands an athletic 5-foot-8, 165-pounds with visible strength projection. Very sleek, rangy defender up the middle, preps around the ball while getting low and out-in-front with the glove as he fields through the ball. Demonstrates an effortless glove-to-hand exchange from multiple arm-slots. Arm strength and carry are already currently visible. Hits from the right-side with a compact, short path that produces bat-speed and regular contact.
