Austin is a lean and athletic 6-foot-0 165 pound infielder who ran a 4.02 home-to-1B. Offensively- Austin starts from a slightly open stance with his weight evenly distributed. Works hands back for his load, dropping more weight to his back side. Up and down with stride and he stays behind the ball well. Aggressive lower half with a bit of an uppercut swing path with extension that finishes up and out. Mostly line drive/flyballs. Carries effort over swing to swing. Exit velocity was 73 MPH but his swing plays better then that. Defensively- Austin is active with his approach fielding most everything out in front with his hands with left foot hanging back some (2B approach at times). Good bounce in his step. With his left foot hanging back, often a second shuffle is incorporated to get his body in alignment from the left side of the infield. Peak infield velocity of 83 MPH which is more then adequate from SS.
