Kowalski has a lean, projectable build at 6-foot 170-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.26-seconds and recorded an exit velocity that topped at 84 MPH. Offensively – switch hitter. From the right side, starts in a neutral stance with hands just above back shoulder and front foot slightly opened. Uses a foot stride to start swing, hands load back fluidly. Uses extension in arms and hands to get the barrel to the ball. Elastic torso helps create some pop off the bat. From the left side – starts in a tall, opened stance with hands in line with back shoulder. Uses a toe tap and stride to start swing, hands load straight back. Creates some lift to finish. Effortless stroke from both sides. Defensively – one of the top catchers at the event, both receiving and throwing. Throws topped at 71 MPH down to 2B. Pop times recorded between 1.98-2.15 both during the workout and in gameplay. Soft hands, able to handle velocity with ease. Quick, explosive out of the crouch. Glove exchange is quick, short quick arm action. Ball is on the bag routinely.

Kowalski had a big day and showed his versatility, going 3-3 with two RBIs including a perfectly placed bunt single. The uncommitted junior catcher is a switch hitter, and recorded line drive hits from both sides of the plate. A lanky, athletic frame, Kowalski showcased a strong arm in between innings with pop times consistently at 2.03 with back spin and on the bag.
Preseason All-State Showcase (February 11th, 2017)
Kowalski has a lean, athletic build at 6-feet 168-pounds. Offensively- Switch hitting catcher. From the right side - starts in a narrow, opened stance with hands below back shoulder and bat sitting vertically in hands. Uses a foot stride to start swing, hands load back. Balanced finish with a level bat path. Exit Velocity topped at 85 mph. From the left side - opened stance, in more of a crouch with hands below back shoulder. Creates some rhythm with hands and wrists prepitch. Uses a foot stride to start swing, hands load straight back. Level bat path with balance in finish. Exit velocity topped at 84. Defensively- Showed some explosiveness coming out of the shoot on throws to 2B. Footwork is sound, exchange is clean and quick. Throws topped at 74 mph. Pop times between 1.91-2.00.
