Padden has a lean, athletic build at 5-foot-7 150-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 6.85-seconds, which was one of the top times at the whole event. Recorded an exit velocity of 87 MPH. Offensively – Starts in a wide stance and in a crouch with hands in line with back shoulder. As pitch comes in, uses a leg kick and stride to start swing. Uphill swing, finishes with lift and balance on follow through. Creates some rhythm in hands and lower body prepitch. Lower body load and hand load work fluidly together. Quick hands to the ball produces line drive pop. Defensively – took reps from both SS and the OF. In the OF, throws topped at 87 MPH, which was one of the top positional velocities from the entire event. Short, quick and explosive arm action. Ball jumps out of hand with life and backspin on target. Advanced speed helps create above average range in the outfield. At SS, throws across the infield topped at 83 MPH. Continues to show athleticism and bounce in the infield and was able to show off his verstaility by playing almost every position in the field during gameplay. Smooth, effortless and athletic hands and baseball movements in the infield. Soft hands with quick glove exchange. Ball gets in and out of glove in a hurry with accuracy. Throws from the hole had carry. Shows agility and quick glovework on slow rollers. Interesting follow to keep an eye on.
2017 New Jersey State Games (July 26-27, 2017)
Padden has a strong, athletic build at 5-foot-7 150-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 6.78-seconds, and recorded an exit velocity of 84 MPH. Offensively – starts in a wide stance with a slight knee bend and hands just below back shoulder. Uses a leg kick to start swing, hands load up and back. Shows some bat speed through the zone with elastic hips and quick hands. Finishes balanced with some lift to swing. Line drive hitter with gap to gap potential as he continues to get stronger. Defensively – took reps at SS. Throws topped at 84 MPH across the infield with life from a high-3/4 slot. Smooth, athletic actions in the field, especially moving side to side. Quick glove exchange with soft hands and momentum moving toward first base. Short, quick arm action – ball jumps out of hand. Able to throw from multiple different slots with accuracy.
Preseason All-State Showcase (February 11th, 2017)
Padden has an athletic build at 5-foot-7 150-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.27 seconds. Offensively- starts in a slight crouch with weight on back leg and hands above back shoulder, close to his head. Uses a leg kick to start swing, hands load up and back. Produces some bat speed through swing, creates lift on finish. Exit Velocity registered at 81 mph. Defensively- bounces around the infield well. Shows some athleticism in movements and lateral quickness. Throws across the infield topped at 80 mph. Able to throw from multiple slots on target. Interesting follow for spring and summer seasons.
Last Chance Open I.D. Showcase (November 5th, 2016)
Padden has an athletic build at 5-foot-7 140-pounds. Offensively- starts in a wide stance with a slight crouch. Hands are even with back shoulder with the top of the bat pointing straight up. As pitch comes in, Padden uses a big leg kick to start his swing. Hands are fully loaded back as leg kick descends. Quick hands provide some pop. Swing can get long but will continue to improve as strength is added. Defensively- shows great baseball actions in the field. Moves laterally to field ground balls smoothly and effortlessly. Throws were on line, topped at 80 mph across the infield. High-3/4 arm slot with some backspin on throws. Able to throw from multiple arm slots.
