4/3/17
Duke recruit. Carey has a strong lower half and broad shoulders at 6-feet 185-pounds. Sat mostly 89-90 touching 91 multiple times with his fastball. Flashed a sharp 11/5 breaking ball at 78-79 mph and a changeup with heavy armside fade with fastball arm action. High-3/4 slot, loose, free arm. Lightning quick action. Shows excellent athleticism for age. Body movements are under control and all momentum toward homeplate. Simple, repeatable mechanics, lands square and in line with home plate. One of the top 2018 prospects to look for in next year's draft.
6/16/16
Carey is 6-0 185-pounds with a very loose and free arm, and he showcased this at the event. His fastball sat 90-93 and touched 94 once during his outing. Throws from a high-3/4 angle with exceptional downward plane. Already touching the mid 90's, Carey still has room to put on more strength and thus more velocity.
9/20/15 -- Carey has an athletic build at 6-foot, 170 pounds. He pitches with smooth rhythm and a lighting quick, long arm action and a high 3/4 arm slot. He generates good loading of his hips and uses his glove side expansion to create some leverage in order to throw the ball at an angle. His fastball possessed plane and arm side bite at 83-87 miles-per-hour (have seen higher velocities before joining PBR). His breaking ball is tight and tilted at 72-73 MPH and his changeup has similar action as his fastball but is a bit hard right now (80-81). Already committed to Duke.
