Lean and athletic frame at 5-foot-11, 152-pounds. Sets up in the middle of the rubber. Slow start with his delivery with aggressive downhill movements. Brings his hands low and keeps them there until his balance point. Quick, big leg kick. Uphill shoulder tilt. Quality hip/shoulder separation. Long, loose arm with a high slot. FB was lively in the zone at 87-88 MPH, touching 89 MPH. CB had sharp downer action in the zone. Occasional CH at 74-77 MPH.
5-foot-11, 152-pound lean frame. On the mound, he had a high ¾ angle and quick arm speed. He is a up-tempo type pitcher with some effort on finish. Athletic balance point and uphill shoulders going down the mound. Front foot lands slightly closed. Strong, firm landing leg with extension on finish. Fastball came in at 81-82 with some late armside life. Showcased a breaking ball with 11/5 tilt at 65-67 with late break. Showcased a split-change with fading armside action at 66-67. Ruiz is a high follow prospect with high upside on the mound.
