Ortiz is a 5-foot-8 155-pound middle infielder. Ran 60 in 7.26. Offensively, sets up with an athletic stance with a short foot stride and minimal hand load. Hips rotate well through the zone, shows average hand speed with the bat. Exit velocity of 80.
Defensively - Very smooth with the glove in the field. Quick, clean exchange, very athletic movements up the middle. Throws were 82 across the infield with back spin and carry. Plays both middle infield spots well.



Winter Trials North (December 6, 2015)

Ortiz is an athletic 5-foot-8, 150 pound middle infielder who hits from the right side. He utilizes a small leg kick with a load onto his back side. His hands find a good launch position as well. He does land hard on his front side at times but makes up for his with fast twitch hands and wrists. He has bat speed with more to come as he gets stronger. He drove the ball nicely up the middle. Defensively, he has effortless smooth actions with a soft hands. He has a quick transfer and release and potential for more arm strength as he has arm speed (80 MPH currently). He is a nice defensive prospect who’s hitting shouldn’t limit him.
