3/01/20

5-foot-11, 165-pound lean frame. He performed well in the 60-yard dash, clocking a speedy time of 6.90. At the plate, the left-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 88 mph. Begins in an athletic stance with a quick load, then uses a small leg kick to initiate his swing. Displays a flat swing plane and has high finish. Found some barrels through his round. Line drive approach. In the infield, made throws at velocities up to 82 mph; has sure hands, quick footwork and a quick exchange. Laterally, movements were athletic. Used a short arm action and a high ¾ slot. Pilla was one of the top prospects coming out of the event, and will certainly be a high riser in the updated 2022 rankings. High follow prospect with big upside.

7/24/19

Pilla has an athletic 5-foot-11, 160-pound frame. During batting practice, the left-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 88 mph. Began in balanced stance, had a quick load and used a short stride to start his swing. Had a level swing plane and rapid bat speed. In the infield, showed an ability to throw across the field at 82 mph.  Used an-over-the-top slot with a short arm action. During the event, he clocked a 60 time of 7.01. Pilla stood out both athletically in the infield with advanced actions and with his powerful, controlled bat during batting practice. Certainly a high follow prospect.
