2.9.19- ProCase 6-foot-3., 190-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. Ran a 6.97 sixty on the laser at the event. The approach in the outfield is athletic and aggressive. Threw 89 mph with carry from the outfield to the plate. The frame is physical and he looks the part. Should be a very physical guy as he matures. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 90 mph. The setup is wide in base, hands work clean to the ball. The front side comes off the ball prior to contact. Uses a 1-handed finish after contact. Interesting follow as he is a skilled player with a physical presence.
Call to the Hall (7.23.18)
Impressive, physical athlete at 6-foot-3 190 pounds. Ran a personal best 6.89 60 yard dash. Offensively- Slightly spread stance; quiet leg kick with a late take back that rubber bands forward with some explosive bat speed through the zone. Present power is there; specifically to the pull side gap - foul line. Defensively- Gliding actions in the outfield; above average accuracy and carry with a peak velocity of 85 MPH (personal best is 88 MPH); showed athletic actions up the middle as well, creates proper angles with a adequate transfer/release and arm that plays from the left side. Hands can get a bit beneath the body when fielding creating a slight delay in his footwork. Profiles as next level outfielder but his athleticism for his size showed through on the infield.
6.2.18
Recent Rutgers Recruit. Stands at 6-foot-3, 190-pounds. Strong, broad-shouldered build. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.13 seconds. Recorded an exit velo of 93 MPH, one of the tops at the event. At the plate, begins in a relaxed and balanced stance. Hands begin low, below the shoulders, and away from the body. Hands go up and back during the load, and elbow becomes parallel withe the ground. Pre swing rhythm, slight bat wrap. Short leg kick, fluid load. Easy bat speed, high barrel awareness. Quiet, short to the ball while creating easy gap to gap power. Defensively, took reps in both the outfield and infield. In the outfield, recorded a velo of 88 MPH. Fields the ball in stride and transfers it away from his body at chest height. Uses a crow hop before delivering strong, on-line throws. In the infield, recorded a velo of 85 MPH. Uses a fundamental approach to the baseball. Smooth, athletic actions. Gets rid of the ball quickly from a 3/4 arm slot.
Team Citius Workout
Rodriguez stands in at 6-foot-2, 175-pounds with a tall and lean athletic frame. Ran a 7.13 – 60. Offensively- Righty sets up in an open stance with his feet shoulder width apart. Shows bent knees with an upright torso holding the bat above his back shoulder using little pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch his trigger is a quiet step forward while his hands move back into his hitting position. Utilizes good lower body rotation getting whole frame involved in the swing. Shows quick hands to the hitting zone with a level barrel path throughout into a high one handed finish. Trigger on hands and stride could be quicker and in unison, tends to step then move hands back allowing ball to travel closer to the plate handcuffing his swing but overall a fluid swing with potential. Recorded an exit velocity of 90 MPH. Defensively- Moves well to the baseball with quick footwork. Shows proper fielding mechanics getting the ball to the chest and into the throwing position quick. Slight hesitation completing his shuffle step; uses proper infielder arm swing; arm velocity peaked at 79 MPH.Pitching- Sets up to the left side of the rubber with a simple side step into his knee raise above the hip crease. While separating the hands he brings the lead leg down before striding out. Separation of hands is smooth with a good break down of the back side. Opens up on the first side prior to release and would gain control and velocity if he stays closed. Fastball has arm side run and consistently low in the zone recorded at 81-83 MPH. Curveball showed good 12/6 action with good spin and was recorded at 68-69 MPH. Splitter was recorded at 72-74 MPH and had tight spin that he controlled and kept low in the zone.
