Montez

Montez is strong and broad-shouldered at 6-foot-5, 238-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 8.38 seconds, top exit velo of 89 MPH. Offensively, stands tall with his weight slightly shifted onto his backside. Hands start up high and have a minimal movements backwards in his load. Generates some pop from his lower half, clears the hips. Easy gap-to-gap with more in the tank. In the infield, recorded a top velo of 76 MPH on throws. On the mound, Montez has a slower and gradual delivery. Closed at footstrike. Soft frontside. Arm is long and loose throughout. FB with occasional run at 79-82 MPH. Mixed in a SL, mostly horizontal, was 73-75 MPH. 

6-foot-4, 238lb durable, physical frame; 8.46 runner in the 60 yard dash. At the plate, Montez starts with weight loaded heavily on the back side with hands wrapped up around the head. Uses a small stride forward and throws the hands and back shoulder through the zone, stays on the ball well through the swing. Slightly uphill swing that shot the ball to the opposite field easily with some pop at times, registered a 91 MPH max exit velo. In the infield, Montez fields under himself with big bend in the belt to keep the chest low. Moves quickly off the bag using an athletic lower half. Throws from a 3/4 slot with good downhill arm speed. Posted a 73 MPH infield arm strength. 

On the mound, Montez sits in the backside and drifts down the mound easily. Works a big arm swing that comes up in the "ready" position at foot strike. Throws a fastball that sits around 72-75 T76 with command in the zone. Mixes in a big curveball with a lot of shape at 60-61 MPH. Flashed a curveball at 62-64 MPH that possesses a good change in speed to keep hitters off balance.
