NJ State Games 7/24/18

Lafayette College recruit. OHara has a strong and athletic frame at 6-foot-1, 190-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.45 seconds. Recorded an exit velo of 91 MPH. Begins at the plate with his feet even in a balanced stance. Hands start just above shoulder height, with his back elbow parallel to the ground. Small leg kick. Creates pre-pitch rhythm. Hands move directly backwards during his load, and brings his back elbow towards his hip. Smooth weight transfer. Defensively, took reps in the infield and behind the plate. From the infield, recorded a velo of 79 MPH. Loose in his approach to the ball. Fields the ball in an athletic position. Made accurate throws from a 3/4 arm slot and long, loose arm action. Behind the plate, recorded a top velo of 76 MPH. Pop times ranged from 1.97-2.03 seconds. Makes his transfer immediately after he receives the ball. Hops to feet quick, and keeps them in line with the target. Throws were consistently on target. On the mound, throws strictly from the stretch. Back foot is near the first base side of the rubber. Feet are closed with the back leg preset. Long, loose arm action and releases from a 3/4 arm slot. Falls off slightly towards the first base side. Stride direction in line. Fastball was consistently in the zone at 82-84 MPH topping at 85 MPH. Curveball displayed 11/5 shape with occasional vertical bite at 71-72 MPH. Changeup had both run and fade at 76-77 MPH.

New Jersey Games (July 23-25, 2016)
O'Hara is versatile at 5-foot-11 170-pounds. Catches, but also can pitch and play all positions in the infield. Offensively, starts slightly opened, uses a small foot stride and small hand load to start swing. Swing looks fluid, has idea for the barrel at the plate, and still has room to grow into his body. Exit Velocity of 82.
Defensively -  has a very good frame to throw to, already has advanced receiving skills for his age. Recorded pop times between 2.03 and 2.12 in the skills event. Throws topped at 74 mph.
Pitching -  topped at 80 mph with FB, curveball at 72. Strike thrower with good temp, located down in the zone well. Throws from high-3/4 slot. Short arm action with little effort. Average arm speed with some rhythm.
