New Jersey Games (July 23-25, 2016)
Roberts is an athletic 6-foot-2 195-pound RHP with a live arm. Marist commit. Throws from a true 3/4 slot. Heavy sink and run on fastball at 83-85, topping at 85 - but has been up to 89 in the spring. Curveball was at 73 with gradual break. Best pitch he showed was changeup at 70 mph, with fastball handspeed and four seam spin, very tough for hitters to pick up. Lightning quick arm with short, loose arm action.
9/20/15 -- Roberts had a very impressive outing and greatly improved his stock despite getting hit a little bit. The 6-foot-1 right-hander with tempo and confidence. He possesses plus-plus arm speed and throws with authority from a slightly lower than 3/4 arm slot. His fastball had sink and run at 83-86 miles-per-hour. His breaking ball was tight and sluve in action at 72-73 MPH. His changeup has plus potential with late downer bite at 71-74.
6/13 -- Pitching with a free and easy arm action with solid directional momentum using a quarter turn hip lead mechanics, Roberts' fastball ranged from 80-84 with pretty solid spin on a 70 mile-per-hour breaking ball. He also flashed a changeup at 73 MPH which had good action and will get better as he shows more conviction in the pitch. He has plus arm speed and more velocity to come. Nice prospect.
