8-1-2018:6’0/205 pounds. Average athlete with a proportional build. Smooth actions with balance and body control working down the slope. Maintains consistent elbow bend with his quick, compact arm action. Strides slightly across his body but has enough strength and mobility in his lower half to make it work. Fastball was 91-94 mph with late run. Ball jumps out of his hand and gets on hitters quickly. Mixed in two secondary pitches during his inning of work. Curveball at 76-78 mph was sharp, but had issues staying in the strike zone. Changeup sat 85-86 mph, coming out firm. Both pitches show quality movement and velocity. In 28.2 IP this summer, Brito has a 37:3 strikeout-to-walk ratio so he typically commands his secondary offerings better than he did at the All-Star game. After a quality junior season at Rutgers in 2018, he seems ready for a dominant senior year. (D Jurik)
