Sparks has a lean, broad shouldered athletic build at 5-foot-11 208-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.06-seconds and recorded an exit velocity of 93 MPH, which was one of the highest exit velocities from the event. Offensively – starts in an opened stance with weight on back side and hands loaded prepitch. Fast, explosive hips and hands through the zone produce gap to gap pop. Finishes balanced. Put on one of the best batting practice rounds of the entire workout with several hit over the left field wall. Ball seemed to explode off the bat. Defensively – throws topped at 86 MPH from the outfield with backspin and carry. One of the top positional velocities from the event. Short, quick arm action – ball comes out with some explosion out of hand.
Futures Preview South (June 4th, 2017)
Sparks has a physically imposing build at 5-foot-11 208-pounds with broad shoulders and a strong lower half. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.16 seconds. Exit velocity topped at 95 MPH. At the plate, Sparks launched several balls well over the outfield fence. Starts in a slightly opened stance with hands above back shoulder and bat parallel to ground. Creates some rhythm in hands prepitch. For as explosive of an athlete as he is, he is quiet and controlled at the plate. Small foot stride to start swing. Hands load down and back. Creates torque in upper body in his swing and finishes tall with some lift. The ball seemed to jump off Sparks' bat differently than other hitters from the event. True gap-to-gap power already at his age. In the outfield, recorded the top velocity at the event at 93 MPH. Quick arm action from a high-3/4 slot. Ball jumped out of hand.
