Vartolone has a 6-foot, 175-pound athletic frame. On the mound, he showed a long arm action with a high-3/4 arm angle. He is a tall-and-fall type pitcher. Threw his 11/5 curveball 70-72 with plus action and consistent accuracy. He produced a fastball that came in at 83-85 mph; with a max of 86 mph; running fastball shows consistent, heavy action. His changeup (75 mph) was most efficient when pitched in sequence with his fastball. His slider was clocked at 75-76 mph with later, sharper 11/5 action.


2019 Preseason All State showcase

Vartolone has a strong and athletic frame at 6-foot, 175-pounds. On the mound, starts tall on the left side of the rubber. Long, loose, clean arm action. Comes from a high 3/4 arm slot. Is slightly open at footstrike. Uphill shoulder tilt as he goes down the mound. Moves his hands in sync with his leg kick. High frontside. Fastball was easily located all over the zone at 82-83 MPH, touching 84 MPH. Curveball was nearly 12/6, clear shape and depth when at the bottom of the zone. CB sat at 62-63 MPH. Changeup had straight fade at 71-72 MPH. Slider displayed some sweeping action across the zone at 67-68 MPH. 

Vartolone has a strong and athletic frame at 5-foot-11, 170-pounds. Starts tall on the mound with his feet angled towards the third base line. Long, clean arm action. Maintains rhythm throughout. Repeatable delivery. Keeps his hands locked in place during his motion. Gets into a hip hinge position early and over the rubber. Strong brace leg. Even shoulder tilt down the mound. Throws with intent and conviction. Fastball was always at the bottom of the zone at 78-80 MPH, reaching 81 MPH. Curveball showed 11/5 shape in the zone, and sharp at times at 68-70 MPH.
