At the plate, starts in an athletic stance with his feet slightly open. Back elbow stays parallel with the ground. Slight hand movement during his load. Minimal stride, stays on time. Fluid weight transfer. Strong lower half, consistently drove the ball into the gaps. Swung with controlled aggression. Very impressive BP. Took defensive reps in the infield and recorded a top velo of 89 MPH. Athletic movements, extremely rangey. Fluid exchanges, plays through the ball. Made strong throws with a short, compact arm action.

2018 New Jersey State Games (7.24.18)
Vergantino has a broad shouldered athletic frame at 6-foot-1 190-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.09-seconds and exit velocity topped at 85 MPH. Vergantino was one of the top uncommitted players at this event. At the plate, Vergantino starts in a wide stance and in a crouch with hands above his back shoulder. As pitch comes in, Vergantino uses a leg kick and stride to start swing. Hands load up and back slightly with fluidity. Short, compact and explosive swing through the zone with a level at bath, Vergantino possesses gap to gap power with his controlled swing. Defensively, shows advanced baseball actions at shortstop. Throws topped at 83 MPH across the diamond with carry. Smooth movements to the ball and gathers at the chest. Short, quick and clean arm action across the infield. Vergantino was a Future Games participant and one of the top offensive performers at that event as well.

2.17.18
Vergantino stands at 6-foot, 190-pounds. Has a strong and athletic frame. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.50 seconds. Recorded an exit velo of 86 MPH. Starts at the plate in a tall and balanced stance with his feet even. Front foot is slightly inverted. Hands are in line with his back shoulder and back elbow is parallel with the ground. Small, hanging stride. Fluid load, hands move directly backwards. Athletic hands, able to hit line drives to all fields. Clears his hips entirely. Defensively, took reps in the infield. Recorded a top velo of 81 MPH on throws across the diamond. Works hard to get around the baseball. Stays low and athletic. Transfers the ball near chest height. Uses a glove tap and a shuffle when he knows he has time. Made strong throws to first with a short arm action and a true 3/4 slot.

2017 New Jersey State Games (July 26-27, 2017)
Vergantino has a lean, athletic and projectable build at 6-foot 190-pounds. Ran the 60-yard dash in 7.15-seconds and recorded an exit velocity of 83 MPH. Vergantino has emerged as one of the top 2020s in the state. Offensively – starts in a tall, narrow stance with hands in line with back shoulder. Uses a slight toe tap and stride to start swing. Loose hips and hips through the zone produce line drive pop with gap to gap potential as he continues to fill out his lanky, athletic frame. Defensively – separated himself from the rest of the 2020 infielders. Smooth, effortless hands and lateral movements in the field with throws that topped at 80 MPH across the diamond with a short, quick arm action. Field ball out in front of body and plays through his throws with momentum and carry. Quick, efficient hand exchange, ball gets in and out of glove quickly. Definite follow prospect.

Preseason All-State Showcase (2/11/17)
Vergantino has an athletic build at 5-foot-10 165-pounds. Ran the 60 in 7.55, produced an exit velocity of 77 mph. Offensively- starts with a wide, opened stance. Hands are low with the bat vertical. As pitch comes in, uses a large leg lift, kick, and stride to start swing. As leg kick initiates, hands load straight back. Shows some explosiveness in hips and swing. Barreled several line drives in batting practice round. Produces lift in swing. Defensively- did not throw (injury). Shows athleticism and some bounce to step in the field. Hands showed some quickness and fluidity. Need to see more on Vergantino once healthy.
