Simple load, stays on time. Explosive through the zone with easy gap-to-gap. Ability to work to all fields. Smooth actions in the infield with a top velo of 79 MPH on throws. On the mound, Fernandez worked quick and up-tempo. Consistent rhythm and tempo. Aggressive frontside. Shorter arm swing with clean action. FB sat 83-84 MPH. CB with gradual action at 71-72 MPH.
Fernandez has a strong/broad-shouldered frame at 6-foot, 207-pounds. Offset position on the first base side of the rubber to start his delivery. Consistent rhythm and tempo in his delivery. Engages the backside early and is able to ride the slope efficiently. Really clean movements overall. Long, loose arm with an earlier elbow-lock. Advanced command of multiple pitches. FB with occasional run at 85-87 MPH. CB showed 11/5 shape at 69-70 MPH. CH with depth at 78-80 MPH.
Strong, broad-shouldered frame at 6-foot, 204-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.48 seconds with an exit velo of 92 MPH. Wide and athletic stance. Hands stay locked in position throughout. Average leg kick. Drops his barrel and gets on plane. Consistently strong contact through the middle of the field. High finish. Recorded a positional velo of 82 MPH. Fields the ball out front and makes his transfer there. Works well laterally, gets rid of the ball quickly. On the mound, starts with his feet offset on the first base side of the rubber. Clear rhythm and tempo. Fluid mechanics, advanced feel for his body. Both halves continually work in sync. Works smoothly into his lower half. Uphill shoulder tilt. Long, loose, clean arm action. Well located FB at 84-85 MPH, touching 87 MPH. Big, tight breaker with late downer action at 71-73 MPH.
6-foot, 202lb sturdy frame; 7.73 runner in the 60 yard dash. Wide base that stands slightly closed off with the front shoulder rotated in in an effort to load the upper half early. Uses a big leg kick and isolates his weight on the back side, launches the weight off the back side and rotates the upper half quickly with some lift in the swing. Hit the ball hard to the pull side while still being able to shoot the ball to the other side of the field, registered a 92 MPH max exit velo. In the infield, he stays low to the ground with long steps to either side of his body. Displayed range to the glove side with some fluid steps. Fields out in front and funnels to the belt, works the hands smoothly into the transfer. Throws from a loose 3/4 slot, registered an 82 MPH infield velo across the diamond.
On the mound, he works down the slope at a comfortable, yet very repeatable tempo. Throws from a high 3/4 slot with looseness present in the actions. The fastball cruised at 84-85 MPH and topped at 86 MPH with much more left in the tank. Very projectable arm on the mound with strength present. Also flashed a curveball that sat 71-73 MPH with good shape to it, especially when thrown to the glove side. Mixes in a change up at 79-81 MPH that stays on the same plane as his fastball, but presents a quality difference in speed to keep hitters off balance.
