My first-ever look at the 6-foot-2 Arizona transfer was during last season’s Pac-12 tourney where I labeled him as a top three round prospect for the 2024 draft. He more than filled that projection against Arkansas, pitching in front of 13,000+ at Globe Life Field and matching Hagen Smith pitch-for-pitch for the first four innings. He filled the strike zone with 94-96 mph heaters that spun in an elite range of 2500-2600 rpm and showed sink at the bottom of the zone. His slider was just dirty. An 84-88 mph super tight spinner (2900-3000 rpm) it played consistently as plus, and showed several 70-grade bucklers. May exited the game in the fifth with discomfort in his throwing arm, but no word yet out of Corvallis with an updated status.
