One of the most instinctual players in Arizona’s 2026 class, Carter Macanas came through with a multi-hit playoff performance, driving a hard single through the left side and later lacing a double to help push Red Mountain out in front. Compact and athletic at 5’9, 160 pounds, Macanas brings a confident presence in the box with a smooth, repeatable swing that consistently produces quality contact. His infield actions are polished and fluid, flashing the ability to throw from multiple arm angles with ease, backed by an 87 mph arm across the diamond. Macanas plays the game with advanced feel and quiet intensity, and his ability to impact the game on both sides makes him a reliable middle infielder for Arizona State down the line.

Positional Profile: SS/3B Baseball instincts showed in everything he did.
Body: 5-9, 155-pounds. Strong, athletic build.
Hit: RHH. Comfortable, advanced setup. Bat path is smooth, consistent.
Power: Low effort, loud EV.
Arm: RH. INF-87 mph. Ability to use multiple arm slots while malking it look easy.
Defense: Athletic, under control.
ATH: 7.19 runner in the 60.

Macanas was one of the best infielders during the Underclass event with quick, clean actions and good footwork. There was arm strength across the diamond, as well, working up to 82mph with accurate throws. Right-handed hitter with quick hands in the box and a leg-kick to start the swing. Gap-to-gap approach right now, although he can elevate the ball at times, and the overall offensive profile should continue to trending upwards as he grows and adds strength. It was a good overall first showing of the year from the uncommitted prospect out of Desert Ridge.

Carter Macanas is a very well rounded ball player with advanced tools to all parts of his game. In the 2026 class, Macanas should be listed with the top SS's across the country with his defensive ability. His feet and glove are very advanced. Active and quick feet, smooth glove and body, and lightning quick transfer, and an accurate and easy arm. His actions in the box are also advanced, just waiting on size and strength to be added to take that part of his game to the next level. Macanas has recorded a couple knocks up to this point. Looking forward to the rest of the week with Carter Macanas and following his development over the years.
