Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
5-foot-10, 165-pounds, wide base, frame can handle more weight. 71 mph arm-strength, 2.10 pop-time in the workout. In the box, quiet and balanced stance, low leg lift, high hands and finish, consistent contact, 70 mph exit velo.
6/6/2018:
Webber ran a 7.61-60. Arm strength measured at 70-MPH from behind the plate with a pop time ranging from 2.06-2.19.
Preseason - East (February 22, 2018)
All-Star Games (September 17/24, 2017)
Standing 5-foot-10, 165-pounds with a slender build with a frame able to handle more positive weight. Offensively- At the plate his stance is shoulder width apart, uses a toe tap back with short stride on the pitch, hands drop and go back and up on the load creating a small hitch (smoothing that out into one motion with benefit him as he sees tougher velocity). Hands stay inside the ball displaying some raw power to his pull-side, mostly level barrel through the zone. Defensively- receives with soft glove, narrow setup. Solid footwork with clean transfer, high-3/4 slot throws to the bag at 70 mph, 2.16-2.16 pop-times. Overall, added arm-strength will help get his pop-times down to the 2.0 range, smoothing out his load in his swing will help generate more consistent contact to all fields.
Campus Series-Albany (July 18, 2017)
Webber stands in at 5-foot-10, 160-pounds with a lean athletic frame. Offensively- Righty sets up square to the pitcher with his feet outside shoulder width. Shows a slight knee bend with an upright torso holding the bat in front of the back shoulder using little pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch, his trigger is a high knee raise into the body to stride forward while his hands move back with a lot of movement. Utilizes good lower body rotation clearing the hips using his whole-body frame in the pitch. Shows quick hands into the hitting zone with upward lift barrel action throughout into a high one-handed finish. Demonstrated potential gap to gap power during his batting practice round. Has a lot of bat movement prior to pitch which may cause timing to be an issue seeing upper velocity pitching. Recorded an exit velocity of 73 MPH. Defensively- In the infield, good approach and footwork to the baseball. Fields the ball well getting it into his chest. Tends to double tap the ball before getting it to the throwing position. A smoother transition would be beneficial for a quicker throw. Moves well left/right and in on the run getting to the baseball. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 72 MPH. Behind the plate, Frames well keeping the body and glove quiet. Good mechanics on throws to second. Stays low to the ground with a short and quick arm swing. Blocks well keeping the ball in front and is athletic to get back up quickly to make the play. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 70 MPH with a pop time range of 2.14-2.24.
