Physical: Lean, athletic 5-foot-8, 160lb frame with clean movements. 7.30 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Narrow, even stance with slight hip-coil over the backside as the hands worked lower at the shoulder. Utilized an early leg lift, hanging with momentum into footstrike; initiated through a flat path with weight-shift available. Notched a mostly pull-side approach with a quick trigger with some twitch spraying hard, barreled contact all over the left side of the field (50% line drive rate via Trackman). Good bat to ball skills and feel for the top hand in the swing, working into a soft/adjustable front-side at impact. Produced a T86 mph bat-exit velocity with occasional doubles power when getting extended (321 foot batted ball distance) getting efficiency out of a smaller frame.
Defensively: The shortstop featured accurate, active footwork staying over the balls of his feet and bending at the waist. Fielded cleanly off the middle of his body, replacing the feet and getting hips/shoulders in-line with tempo before releasing at H ¾ slot (78 mph arm, accurate throws).
Pitching: RHP - Started slightly offset from the middle of the rubber; athletic thrower staying mostly upright in the posture, landing at a firm front-side after working up tempo in the delivery. H ¾ slot and 78-79 mph FB that carried to the letters for strikes (54% zone rate). Mixed in a tight, two-plane breaker around 70 mph that created big-time swing/miss with good leverage/arm speed out in front (T2300+ spin). Countered flashing a lateral 64-66 mph SL to give hitters a tough, different look (righties especially).
3/21/21
Pitching: Controlled pace with a fundamental, balanced delivery. Mid arm swing to a clean 3/4 release (4'7" release height).
FB: Heavy that should be focused on locating at the bottom of the zone with a 2-seam with a Bauer Unit of 23 to be most effective. CB: Sharp break with 11-5 shape dropping in for strikes arm side. SL: Shorter, tight break located on glove side. CH: Good change of speed with arm side fade.
2/15/21
Physical: Lean, compact 5-foot-7, 152-pound developing frame. Above-average athleticism present with a 7.31 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Slightly bent, traditional setup as the barrel started at the shoulder. Utilized an early leg lift stride in order to initiate the hands through a flat path into the hitting zone; held an upright posture while hitting into a stiff front side. Notched an impressive 42% line drive rate per Trackman Baseball showing feel for the hands at the plate. Peppered the middle of the field with hard contact, getting up to an 85 mph peak bat-exit velocity during batting practice. A 23.2 mph hand speed led to a quick trigger in the approach and an 81% on-plane efficiency points towards current bat to ball skills present.
Defensively: The primary shortstop could really pick it in the middle; got to a fluid, attacking position at the fielding window picking the hop that best suited him and approached with confidence. Made multiple tough plays look easy where he picked it clean from a short hop, flowing right into the throw phase with rhythm. Impressive movements with an arm strength to back it up (82 mph).
10/17/20
Physical: 5-foot-7, 152 pounds; slender, athletic build. 7.35 runner in the 60. Offensively: RHH. Wide set up with feet just outside shoulder width, keeps a high bat with hands behind the shoulder; uses an easy, repeatable lift and replace with his stride to time the lower half while shooting the hands back right before he swings . Good load on the back hip and turns quickly creating some separation in his hips and shoulders with uphill swing path, swings from a low slot . Lifted the ball to the left side of the field and displayed easy bat to ball skills; peak Trackman exit velocity of 86 MPH. Defensively: Athletic bend in the knees with slightly wide feet; Moves well laterally and works through the ball on his way to the target. Semi soft hands that are occasionally stabby at the ball, works into a clean transfer; Short, snappy actions in the arm with a lot of shoulder rotation through a short 3/4 slot . INF - 77 MPH. Pitching: Methodical in the windup to a balance point where he breaks his hands into a T shape. 3/4 slot with good north to south movement through the shoulders getting him down hill easier. FB: Peak velo of 78 MPH, while sitting 75-78 MPH. Low spin FB that plays well down in the zone and on the corners, locating is important here. CB: 63-65 MPH. Snaps a good CB with good depth on it to the plate, could be thrown in any count with confidence. SL: 67-70 MPH. Flashed a slider with good gradual glove side tilt, could be a good 2K pitch.
