Comments
Dunlop is an athletic 6-foot-0; 180 pound RHP/SS who ran a respectable 7.0 60. Offensively- Dunlop hits from the left side with an even stance; feet just outside shoulders. Uses a short load with a slight wrap of the barrel; stride gains ground towards the mound, landing slightly open. Hands lead into contact with aggressive finish to his lower half; short swing path with quick, whip like extension out of the zone. Line drive results; improved extension will tap into his power potential; exit velocity peaked at 89 MPH. Defensively- Steady approach to the ball; calm with hands out in front; quick exchange; varies throwing footwork at times causing disruption with his momentum. Left side arm strength at 85 MPH; may project better at 3B over the long term. Pitching- Dunlop was very impressive on Day 3 of the event after the defensive workout and 2 games at SS, he was able to sit in the mid 80’s; touching 88 MPH. Evidence that on full rest he will be an upper level arm. Repeats delivery with ease from a ¾ arm slot. Curveball sat in the 72-75 MPH range with late action and depth. Projects higher on the mound but could be a certifiable dual prospect at the right program and level.
