July 25, Long Island

Long lean frame, throws from a high 3/4 slot using loose arm-action, hesitation in back of arm-circle. Fastball has jumped to now sitting mid-80's, peaking at 87 mph with some late action. Curveball has sweeping action at 73-75, change up fades at 75-79 with FB hand-speed. 2018 to keep an eye on.

Long Island Prospect Preview (August 8, 2016)

Reitan, stands at 6-foot-2 and 180-pounds. He ran a 7.73 60. Offensively- Hits from a crouched open stance with both knees turned inward towards the center of the body. Hands are head high off the back shoulder. Swing begins with a toe-to-heel movement as the get back inside and slightly above the back shoulder. From the launch phase to contact, showed aggressive lower half torque. Drove the ball well to the middle of the field and pull side gap. Recorded an exit velocity of 70 MPH.  Defensively- Reitan starts in an athletic setup; staying on the balls of his feet; constant action laterally; hands get in front. Momentum comes to an abrupt halt as he starts throwing motion. Would benefit from finishing throws off with some acceleration through shuffle step and following throws.   Pitching-  Toes the rubber from the center, with the throwing elbow at a 90 degree angle from the wind-up. Drop steps towards first base as the glove with ball comes down to the belt. Throws from a low ¾ arm angle, getting run and sink on the fastball. Fastball recorded a top velocity of 80 MPH. Was able to repeat the delivery on the curveball; has tight 10 to 5 spin and was consistently thrown to the lower/outer third of home plate. Curveball velocity was recorded at 65-69 MPH. Clean arm action and projects well as a pitcher at the next level.
